Meet Maestro Misael
Maestro Misael’s healing journey began when he was just 21 years old, struggling with depression and physical pain. He tried many modern modalities but nothing healed him. This caused him to turn to the sacred plant medicines of his ancestors, where he found profound healing and transformation. His first teacher was his father, and he later deepened his training under the respected Maestra Justina.
Now 40 years old, Maestro Misael has dedicated nearly 20 years to practicing and preserving Shipibo healing traditions. He currently lives in the Shipibo community of San Francisco but spent much of his life in the community of Vencedor. With deep commitment and heart, he guides ceremonies, dietas, and healing work to help others find the same transformation he once experienced.
Outside of his journey with the medicine, Misael has a wife and 8 kids.
Meet Tyler
Tyler felt a deep inner void and sense of purposelessness. Though he thought he had everything he wanted in life he still felt lost and depressed. It was through the medicine that his healing began.
All of 2025, Tyler has been learning directly from Maestro Misael, living and training under his guidance in the Shipibo tradition. While still early in his path, Tyler serves as a bridge between the Western world and the Shipibo way — supporting guests, translating, and helping preserve the sacredness of this path. His spirit is Shipibo. He is walking the road of becoming a healer himself through ongoing dietas and service.
Who We Are
While many members from the community help with cooking, cleaning, and construction projects around the center, Misael and Tyler are the faces the guests will interact with most. 2 female healers will be joining the team shortly. Misael and Tyler both had the same vision before actually meeting each other. The vision to create a space of healing, not driven by money, power, or control like many centers have succumbed to. The money goes directly back to the center and Shipibo community to help improve the experience for guests, and life of those in the community. We also believe in standing firm with Shipibo traditions as this is who has protected + preserved the medicine and culture over the years. The vision is not to just have people come and go like a revolving door. We want to build genuine connections, on an individual level, with every person that comes. Everyone that visits is considered family for life and we will do whatever it takes to guide the healing of those that come.
—————————
We are driven by God, spirit, love, or whatever word you would like to use. This vision was put into us by this creator consciousness, it is not ours. We are simple vehicles and instruments for this energy to be expressed. This energy heals us, protects us, teaches us, and this space is used to help guide others to connect to this same energy. Misael has worked at other retreat centers for 5+ years and has plenty of experience working with guests through many of life’s challenges. Some other centers do not put God first or the shamans take credit for the healing. Here, the shamans and facilitators do not heal or take credit for what happens. We simple provide space for individuals to connect to the medicine, to their spirit, to God. Once that faith and connection is established, the healing begins.
—————————
We believe in building this vision from the ground up. Standing firm with our principles of being Shipibo run, using Shipibo cultures, and putting God first. Protecting ourselves from the ego’s desire to make this projects main goal making money. While still in the roots of the vision, the team has 100% faith that it will happen and will do whatever necessary to make it happen. Below, you can see that we are located deep in the Peruvian Amazon and this is very important to us. Away from the noise and energy of cities and in the jungle where the medicine and medicinal plants naturally grow. This is also where dozens of well known healers have dieted and learned the medicine. The center is located across from a Shipibo community named Vencedor. The center is on a large jungle island. This is true Shipibo way of life, with a small touch of western comfort so guests can enjoy their stay. This deep jungle energy is a large part of who we are and believe this energy is a great healer / teacher.
